Protocols for Protecting You, Your Family and Your Pet

  • Conduct annual physical examination with complete history.
  • Conduct annual heartworm testing in dogs and cats depending on patient health and lifestyle factors.  
  • Conduct fecal examinations two to four times during the first year of life and one to two times per year in adults, depending on patient health and lifestyle factors.
  • Feed pets cooked or prepared food (not raw meat) and provide fresh, potable water.

Internal Parasites

Primarily- (Animals traveling outside Central Oregon)

  • Deworm at 2, 4, 6, 8 weeks of age with Strongid. 
  • At approximately 12 weeks of age begin on monthly dewormer (Iverhart Max). 
  • Recheck Fecal yearly.

Alternatively- (Animals strictly staying within Central Oregon)

  • Deworm 2, 4, 6, 8 weeks of age with Strongid then monthly with Strongid until 6 months of age.
  • Strongid sent home in individual syringes to be administered orally every 3 months for 3 treatments.   
  • Drontal to be administered in 2 doses 2 weeks apart yearly (or more often as needed) then Strongid sent home in individual syringes to be administered orally every 3 months for 3 treatments.  
  • Recheck fecal yearly.

*Heartworm testing yearly for those animals that travel outside of Central Oregon.  Test EOY for animals remaining in Central Oregon.

Internal Parasites

  • Deworm at 3, 5, 7, 9 weeks of age with Strongid
  • Outside cats- Monthly deworming beginning at 4 months with Iverhart Max.
  • Outside cats alternative- Deworm yearly with Profendor then Strongid sent home in individual syringes to be administered orally every 3 months for 3 treatments. 
  • Inside cats- Deworm annually with Profendor and perform fecal every 6 months.
