During the past month we have seen a significant number of horses diagnosed with "Pigeon Fever". This disease is also known as pigeon breast, breastbone fever, dryland distemper, dryland strangles, false strangles, and false distemper. The causitive agent is a bacteria known as Corynebacterium pseudotuberculosis. This organism also causes abscesses in sheep and goats.
