There was recently a large study that (the National Institutes of Health) did that found that glucosamine and chondroitin didn't help improve arthritis; it was very ineffective. 

The American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons now recommmends against taking it.

Most of the information that has been compiled for the use of glucosamine products in dogs has come from human based literature.  Until further information becomes available in veterinary literature Redmond Veterinary Clinic cannot support the effectiveness of glucosamine products.
