This Month's Highlight on Health

This month we are highlighting Pediatric Wellness and Feline Sleep Habits.

Pediatric Wellness

"No two ways about it, puppies and kittens are adorable. It's easy to be transfixed by the tiny paws, tiny noses, and big bellies galloping around your home in a riot of excitement. Puppy- and kitten-hood the first six months of life can be one of the best times in a pet's life, but it requires some diligence and special care from loving pet owners. The first thing you should do with your new kitten or puppy is make an appointment to see a veterinarian."

Cats do not have the same daily sleep-wake cycle that we and many other animals do. Rather, they sleep and wake frequently throughout the day and night. This is because cats in the wild need to hunt as many as 20 small prey each day; they must be able to rest between each hunt so they are ready to pounce quickly when prey approaches.  This explains more.
