This Month's Highlight on Health

The Foundation to Wellness and Ill Patient Visits consists of a complete Physical Examination as well as a thorough Consultation.

The Physical Examination

The physical examination (PE) is the cornerstone of veterinary medicine.  It consists of general observation and hands on examination. The examiner must use the senses of sight, hearing, smell, and touch throughout the examination.  The combination of the animal's signalment, history, and PE can often reveal the diagnosis within minutes of presentation.

The Exam consists of evaluating:

  • General Condition
  • Eyes
  • Mouth and Teeth
  • Ears
  • Cardiovascular
  • Respiratory
  • Gastrointestinal
  • Lymph Nodes
  • Musculoskeletal
  • Skin and Haircoat
  • Urogenital

The Consultation

In addition to a complete Physical Examination, the Consultation includes gathering a thorough history regarding Nutrition, Disease Prevention, Parasite Control, Behavior, Oral Health and Grooming so as to optimize your pet’s health and allow you to help direct care.
