A Legacy of Excellence

Since its foundation in 1942 by Dr. Buck Lewis, Redmond Veterinary Clinic has stood as a cornerstone of veterinary care in Central Oregon. Dr. Lewis, the first veterinarian in the region, dedicated himself to serving not only the local community but also those in Southern and Eastern Oregon. His pioneering spirit and commitment laid the foundation for what would become a renowned institution.

Over the years, Redmond Veterinary Clinic has grown alongside the community it serves, emerging as a symbol of exceptional veterinary care. Its reputation has reached far beyond the local boundaries, owing in part to the active involvement of Dr. Robert Huckfeldt. His contribution as President and committee member of the Oregon Veterinary Medical Association has further elevated the practice's recognition throughout the state.
However, it was in the 1980s with the addition of
Dr. Curt Nitschelm that Redmond Veterinary Clinic truly expanded its services. Dr. Nitschelm's expertise allowed the clinic to offer advanced medical and surgical treatments, catering to clients who sought local, state-of-the-art care. His unwavering dedication and outgoing demeanor helped foster long-lasting relationships with both the community and their beloved pets.

At Redmond Veterinary Clinic, the commitment to excellence and compassionate care remains at the forefront. The legacy initiated by Dr. Buck Lewis continues to thrive, as the team of talented veterinarians and staff carry forward the torch of exceptional veterinary services. The journey that began in 1942 persists, with an unwavering commitment to excellence and a passion for improving the lives of pets throughout Central Oregon and beyond.

Uncompromising Care…

In our attempt To Provide Uncompromising Care, we are striving to make visits to Redmond Veterinary Clinic, a highly enjoyable experience for our patients.  The Fear-Free™ initiative, along with our Cat Friendly Practice promotes the practices, methods, and tools that calm patients and create low-stress environments to encourage better healthcare emotionally and physically.  Hippocrates said it this way: “Cure sometimes, treat often, comfort always.”

…Unconditional Love

The Greek word agape is often translated “love”.

“Agape love is unmotivated in the sense that it is not contingent on any value or worth in the object of love. It is spontaneous and heedless, for it does not determine beforehand whether love will be effective or appropriate in any particular case.”
